Macmillan Dictionary Love English Awards

Latest news

The competition is now closed. Thank you for nominating and voting for your favourite blog/website! You can find this year's winners and runners-up on the main competition page.

About the competition

The Macmillan Dictionary Love English Awards is a public voting contest where readers can nominate and cast their votes for their favourite blog and website about the English language.

Where do you go when you need information, inspiration, guidance or resources in your desire to learn more (about) English or to satisfy your curiosity about the language?

Who do you love, who do you trust, and who do you recommend to your friends and/or colleagues?

Tell us who you think should win the Macmillan Dictionary Love English Award for 'best blog about English' and 'best website about English' in 2013 and be in with a chance of winning a Google Nexus 7 tablet!

Competition stages: nominations and voting

Our Love English Awards competition is comprised of two stages:

  • Stage 1 – Nominations (from 18 November 2013 until 12 January 2014, midnight GMT): members of the public are asked to nominate their favourite English language blog and/or website.
  • Stage 2 – Voting (from 21 January 2013 until Friday 14 February 2014, midnight GMT): members of the public are invited to vote for their favourite nominated blog and/or website.
  • The blog/website with the highest number of votes wins the competition in each category. There are also two runners-up per category.

Competition rules: categories, nominations and voting

Entries can be submitted in two categories:

  • best website about the English language
  • best blog about the English language

The criteria for nominations:

  • The blog/website needs to be active or have been active in 2013.
  • The blog/website should discuss English language related issues, for example: an educational site, a blog about words, a teacher's blog, a resource site, etc.
  • The blog/website can be hosted in any language, as long as the main subject of the blog or website is about the English language.

About the competition:

  • Anyone can nominate a blog and/or website, but you can only nominate one blog and one website per person.
  • Be fair: one person can only vote once per category.
  • We recommend that you read the full Terms and Conditions before entering this competition.
