boofing - definition and synonyms

noun

    1
a technique in white water kayaking (also rafting and canoeing) in which the paddler puts in a powerful paddle stroke at the top of a drop in order to pull the nose up and land the craft horizontally to maintain speed. The word is an onomatopoeia, sounding like the noise the hull of the boat makes when it lands in the water.

Although boofing is a crucial technique for running drops, it can also be quite dangerous if not done properly.
