COMMENTS BY TEACHERS AND WRITERS

I received your dictionary a few days ago and I really like it! The presentation is very clear and I can learn a lot of new words. It is a pleasure to look at it! Thank you very much for this very good tool!
Hildegard Savart, English teacher, AFIDA-CEL in Saint Quentin, Aisne, France

Thanks a lot for your lessons and for your generous and unlimited support. I've been using your materials for two years already in my grammar, newspaper English, environmental issues and conversational classes. The variety of teaching materials you offer is amazing, and they make my classes more interesting both for me and my students. Lots of thanks from my colleagues too.
Nadezhda Perelgut, Teacher trainer and head of the EL Department, Nizhnevartovsk State Pedagogical Institute, Nizhnevartovsk, West Siberia, Russia

I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful Macmillan Essential Dictionary and CD-ROM that you sent me. I’ve been using it and it’s really useful; it has plenty of activities to do that meet my needs. It’s worth working with it! Thanks again!
Evangelina Martínez, secondary English teacher, Colegio San Antonio de Padua and Fuerte San Carlos, Argentina

The Macmillan Essential Dictionary is very good and has interesting, helpful features for using it in a proper way. I'll recommend it to my students.
Ana Mercedes Roldán, EFL teacher, Columbia

I’ve been carrying the advanced level into my university classes since I bought it, and will definitely carry the Essential to use it with my secondary students.
Péter Rádai, EFL Teacher and Teacher Trainer, Hungary

People who are not used to using dictionaries get great help from the layout, especially the introductory (menu) boxes, and from the short and clear definitions.
Stieg Hargevik, Associate Professor, Stockholm School of Economics, Sweden

The major advantage of this dictionary is that it bridges the gap between mere looking up of unfamiliar words and more active, production-oriented interaction, thus leading to more successful, awareness-building vocabulary learning.
Piotr Steinbrich, Teacher and Teacher Trainer, Lublin, Poland

The new Macmillan Essential Dictionary is an accessible and appealing addition to our classroom reference tools. My students found it easy to understand the clear definitions supported by concise example sentences. I especially liked the coloured boxes, which draw the reader's attention to multiple meanings, collocations, synonyms and word families; a feature that promotes independent learning as well as facilitates ease of use. I was impressed to find clear grammatical reference notes integrated into the main text for those learners who want to explore the language in a little more depth.
