What are red words?

90% of the time, speakers of English use just 7,500 words in speech and writing. These words appear in red, and are graded with stars. One-star words are frequent, two-star words are more frequent, and three-star words are the most frequent.

    in Latin grammar, an adjective formed from a verb (usually a transitive one), that modifies a noun (the direct object of the verb it derives from), giving it a sense of obligation

    In the expression "pacta sunt servanda", "pacta" means "agreements", "sunt" means "are", and "servanda" is the gerundive of "servare", (to keep). The whole expression means "agreements must be kept".
