Macmillan English Dictionary for Advanced Learners

Review from Engine Magazine, Germany, Issue 2/2005, June 2005

Matthias Meier, Editor

Whoever uses English on a daily basis will gradually find themselves grabbing a monolingual dictionary, rather than one with German-English translation. The Macmillan English Dictionary is worth grabbing. Presented in two colours, the most frequently-used words in red, and with scores of explanations, picture dictionaries and pronunciation, it lends itself more to just reading rather than simply looking something up. The CD-ROM and access to an online version of the dictionary more than round everything off. You can look things up with the click of your mouse, even from within other programmes, hear British and American pronunciation, use the study pages and create your own entries.
